A new Sacco has been established in Nakuru County after graduating from a Community Based Organization.
Known as Agano Ventures Sacco, this Society has launched new products and services in a move aimed at changing the livelihoods of its members. This Sacco, which was initially a youth group way back in 2013 with 10 members, has since grown in size and has been offering financial assistance through loans to its members.
The Society’s Chairman Mr. Julius Amunga told Sacco Review during the function that the organization transformed from a community based organization (CBO) in 2015 to Agano Ventures Organization.
“In October 2016, Agano Ventures Organization merged its affiliate groups and formed a Sacco called Agano Ventures Savings and Credit Co-operative Society Ltd,” Amunga said.
Amunga said the Sacco will provide a platform for small business operators like Barber and Salon operators, Mama Mboga, Mitumba sellers, Newspaper vendors, Bodaboda operators and other interested parties.
“We will focus on our mission to organize and promote the welfare and economic interest of our members. Our vision is to transform and empower youth and women socially and economically by providing quality and timely financial services in a conducive and friendly environment,” said Mr Amunga.
Speaking during presentation of the registration certificate, Bahati Sub County Cooperatives Officer, Daniel Onyango urged the Sacco to recruit more members so as to increase their savings and investment for the future.
He said there is need to teach residents the importance of saving and help them improve their business and the economy of Nakuru County.
