Boresha Sacco CEO honoured with HSC Award

Boresha DT SACCO CEO Jacob Mengich has been awarded a HSC for outstanding dedication in the Cooperative sector.

Boresha DT Sacco CEO Jacob Mengich has been honoured with the Head of State Commendation (HSC) Civilian Division by President William Ruto during the 2023 Jamhuri Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.

Mengich, who was among 173 others, was appreciated for exceptional services in the Sacco industry and the role he has played in transforming the livelihoods of Baringo County residents.

He has served in Boresha Sacco for 30 years, having joined in 1993.

Mengich has been CEO since January 2021 after he took over from his predecessor Moses Chebor, who retired in 2020 after leading for 35 years. Before that, Mengich had served as Deputy CEO for 13 years.

Under his leadership, Boresha Sacco has grown, currently standing at Ksh7.9 billion up from Ksh3.2 billion three years ago.

Boresha DT Sacco is ranked among the Top 20 SACCOs in Kenya by SASRA and has remained a key agent of transformation recognized for its outstanding role in empowering members, the majority of whom are teachers and farmers.

The HSC is a prestigious award given by the President to individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities and has two divisions – military and civilian.

The honours are bestowed by the President based on recommendations from the National Honors and Awards Committee.
