Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (Saccos) in remote Tana River County are calling on the government to channel the multibillion Youth, Uwezo and Women funds through their societies.
They said the Uwezo, Youth and Women funds should be channelled through Saccos in an attempt to boost their liquidity.
Leading those making the appeal is the Tana Teachers Sacco Manager, Fauzia Said Karani.
‘If the County governments channel funds through our Saccos, it will alleviate liquidity challenges experienced by many of Tana Coop organizations,’’ said Karani.
He called on the government to disburse the funds through the Saccos since they have the right framework.
He also asked residents to embrace the Sacco movement in the remote region.
