Governor urges Sacco members to repay loans on time

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has urged Sacco members to make timely loan repayments.

This, he said, will boost the institution’s financial base.

Governor Ojaamong was addressing members of Malaba Border Riders Sacco recently during a funds drive to support purchase of a mini-bus.

He noted that without discipline in lending and repayment of loans most Saccos do not meet their objectives.

The governor, who was accompanied by Nyakach Member of Parliament, Aduma Owuor and his Teso North counterpart, Oku Kaunya, said the county will establish two boda boda Saccos in each ward.

He said most boda boda groups are being transformed into Saccos, adding many of them have benefitted county funding citing Samia and Bunyala Saccos, which received Sh1.5 million each.

“Well managed Saccos can reap big from own estates, buses among other investment opportunities,” he said.

Kaunya added that the bus will empower the boda boda riders and urged leaders and county residents to support them.
