Govt rolls out an economic blueprint to spur development in Nyanza

Information and ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has revealed that the national government has rolled out a major economic blueprint revolving around infrastructure, agriculture, trade and other forms of investments for Nyanza region to spur development.

Speaking in Kisumu, the CS noted that youth and women who are engaged in business should form societies which will enable them increase their bargaining power, lock out middlemen and market their products well.

He proudly revealed that the government has already waived debts owed by sugar mills across the country to pave way for smooth leasing of sugar firms.

He also revealed that the government plans to open up beach landing sites in Mbita, Kendu Bay and Homa Bay.

“The government has already established Kabonyo Fisheries and Aquaculture Service and Training Centre of Excellence in Kisumu County to provide alternative sources of fish production methods and boost the sector.” Owalo noted.
