Homa Bay Women Sacco which was started two years ago, has registered more than 8,000 members with deposits rising to Sh34 million.
Sacco Board chair, Ms Jane Juma speaking to Sacco Review recently said: “Integrity and accountability are the cornerstones upon which the society is founded.”
She said that they are determined to enhance wealth creation and deepen financial inclusion in the region by mobilising savings and offer affordable credit facilities. “The composition of the Sacco and its performance over this short period has excited the people and the confidence is high,” she noted.
“We have overcome the challenges of the past that bedevilled members and we are set to go places,” she said, adding: “We decided to start the Sacco after we realised that women here do not have title deeds to use as collateral to take loans from financial institutions.”
