Kisumu traders asks lawyer to drop case challenging bus park project

The traders said during a public participation organised by the county administration that they stand to lose if the case in court drags on for a long time.

The lawyer moved to the Environment and Land Court to challenge the presence of the park in the area alleging that it would interfere with learning at nearby schools.

At the same time, the National Government announced it will construct a new market at the newly opened Mowlem bus terminus in the outskirts of Kisumu town.

Kisumu City manager Abala Wanga said the construction project will last up to six months.

Speaking at the bus terminus during a public participation, Wanga said area Governor Anyang Nyong’o has promised to erect some 360 stalls which said will accommodate the traders.

Wanga warned cartels who have pocketed cash from unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of allocating them spaces will be arrested and prosecuted.

He denied claims that senior officers at the county government have allocated themselves several stalls.
