Members of 28 Saccos trained on book-keeping

By Leonard Ojiambo.

Members of 28 Cooperative Societies in Busia County attended a two-day book-keeping training course courtesy of County Woman Representative, Florence Mutua.
Mutua said officials of the Saccos were trained on book-keeping and urged to hold annual general meetings and motivate members by paying dividends to shareholders.
“The members were also trained on the need to hold annual audits aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of Sacco funds,” she added.
Addressing participants during the closing ceremony of the training in Busia town recently, Mutua said she wanted to see Saccos fully benefiting from the initiative to empower their members.
“Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has set aside funds for Cooperatives and applicants get loans to set up income-generating projects,” Mutua observed.
