Nyandarua county pledges to patronize Tower Sacco’s services

Governor Kiarie Badilisha speaking to Tower Sacco members.

Governor Kiarie Badilisha has pledged that Nyandarua County will patronize the services of Tower Sacco whenever they require financial assistance or consultation.

Speaking during the Sacco’s 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ol’Kalou, Badilisha said that the Sacco appealed to him because they are customer-centred and register all customers regardless of their financial status.

He said that this has led to the boom in businesses in the county and in turn boosted its economic status, adding that the Sacco is an example of united people with unity of thought and ideas.

“I challenge all people in Nyandarua who are yet to join a cooperative to join Tower so that we can grow together. Saccos have been a catalyst for the county’s development agenda,” he said.

The county chief said that the success story of Tower Sacco has revived his government’s plan to launch awareness campaigns to encourage residents to nurture a culture of saving and wealth creation.

Badilisha noted that Tower Sacco venturing into the housing sector and provision of affordable mortgages to members will greatly enhance the government’s affordable housing programme.

He lauded area cooperatives for employing 20,000 people directly and 60,000 others indirectly, adding that part of the aforementioned plan is to also bring together major cooperative societies under one union to ensure value addition in services on offer.

“We have 180 cooperative societies in Nyandarua and we want to bring them together under one union. If we have one strong cooperative and make a good business concept, we will be able to take advantage of opportunities provided by the government to make money,” he said.
