Angaza Afrika Sacco has been ordered to reopen its branch in Nanyuki town.
Laikipia County Government has directed the Sacco to do so within three months and address concerns of 200 members.
This follows members’complaints after the Thika-based Sacco closed their office without notice sparking fears they may lose their money.
Laikipia Co-operatives Development Office summoned the Sacco officials to explain why the society had closed office without informing their clients.
The Laikipia East Sub-county Co-operative Officer, Richard Murigu said they had directed the Sacco to audit the parcels of land it sold in Laikipia and process title deeds for members.
“People who have saved their money and bought land from the company came to my office and complained that they do not know why the office was closed and no one was attending to their complaints,” said Murigu.
A Sacco official Ephantus Maina said the Sacco will address all the concerns raised.
“The office could not meet its expenses and that is why we wanted to close it to look for a cheaper office. Everyone is assured that their money is safe. All those who have paid for their plots, title deeds will be issued with title deeds soon,” said Maina.
Some members had demanded their money be refunded.
