Taita Taveta register new Saccos

Taita Taveta County has registered seven new Saccos according to Cooperative Development director, Erastus Gonzi.

These include women Saccos, two Boda Boda Saccos and one farmers’ Sacco.

He said that four other new Saccos are currently under the process of registration and urged residents to join co-operatives in large numbers to uplift their living standards.

He said that the county government will continue to support Saccos to enable them offer quality services to members in a professional way.

Meanwhile, Lamu County has so far registered four youth Saccos.

County Co-operative Director, Nickson Baya asked youth to embrace Saccos as the surest way of getting money to implement their personal development projects.

He said they will continue to sensitize the youth on the importance of forming and joining co-operatives in the area.

He said a fundraising for Women Saccos conducted recently in the county raised a total of Sh 11 million.

In Tana River County new 10 youth Saccos have been registered.

County Cooperative Director, Athman Haribae said objective of forming the Saccos in the region is to improve the welfare of the youth.

He also said Equity Bank promised to fund youth acquire motorbikes and had already given 15 motorbikes to members of youth Saccos.

“Among the ten youth Saccos which have been registered are  Mikinduni Huduma Sacco and Hola Boda Boda Sacco,” he said.

County Woman Representative, Rehema Hassan pledged to form Tana River Entrepreneurship Sacco to serve as an umbrella Sacco body for all youth Saccos in the region. She will also give 150 motorbikes.
