Youths in Taita Taveta County have been urged to form Saccos to enable them prosper.
Speaking to Sacco Review in Wundanyi recently, Taita Taveta Cooperative director Mr. Erastus Gonzi said that youths are the majority and they should be sensitized on the importance of forming Saccos to uplift their living standards.
“Though joining Saccos is the best way to go, forming own Saccos will transform their lives,” he remarked.
He further told youths to engage in income generating activities to raise their economic status.
Gonzi advised youths in the region to have a sharp sense of focus and avoid idling in the streets of urban centres.
He attributed the miserable life they led to idleness resulting in excessive drinking of alcohol and drug abuse.
The director advised Saccos in the county to ensure good leadership and good governance in order to retain their members.
He noted that bad leadership led to the withdrawal of members to join other Saccos.
