Vision Africa Sacco launches ATM services

By Wesley Ken
Vision Africa Sacco Ltd has launched ATM services to ensure efficient and effective de- livery of quality products and services to members. It unveiled the services in a colourful ceremony that was graced by Co-operative Bank’s Head of Sacco banking Peter Kirugu among other top officials of the bank in Nakuru County.
The Sacco Chairman Joseph Mugere lauded the achievement, saying the Vi- sion Africa Sacco ATM launch was through a bigger branded patron (the Cooperative Bank) that allows its members to make cash withdrawals from
any branded ATM, not only in the country but across the globe. Hiram Macharia, the Sacco CEO said the launch was timely because, most of their customers being business people make frequent deposits and withdrawals. The Sacco embarked on a plan to embrace technology and modernization of its bank- ing business at the beginning of this year.
The Sacco with over 10,000 members was started 12 years ago in Gilgil town by small traders.
Vision Africa has since then made major strides in its endeavour to attain financial inclusion, a pursuit that has
seen a notable improvement
of the livelihood of its mem- bers owing to its open-mem- bership business model. The Sacco serves mainly small scale traders, Jua Kali arti- sans, motorbike bodaboda rid- ers, supermarket employees and other organizations. The Sacco rebranded to Vision Af- rica Sacco in 2010, putting it on a high pedestal and conse- quently embarking on opening more branches outside Nakuru County. Currently the Sacco has three branches: Nakuru, Gilgil and Naivasha.
The Sacco this year started a housing and property project which has so far seen over 220 members benefit from its 1st phase.
