In a major boost to financial inclusion and agricultural transformation, the County Government of Busia has disbursed a Ksh. 24.5 million cooperative inclusion grant to 35 Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs). The grant aims to enhance production and value addition, empowering farmers and agripreneurs across the county.
As part of this initiative, the government also introduced the Agripreneur Model, benefiting 245 residents. This model is designed to strengthen financial access and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Speaking at the launch held at Busia Agricultural Training Centre (ATC), Deputy Governor Arthur Odera, alongside Susan Mang’eni, Principal Secretary for the State Department of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), highlighted the county’s commitment to agricultural commercialization. The program is supported through partnerships with organizations such as the World Bank and the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project.
The Deputy Governor emphasized that this initiative will significantly boost agricultural productivity and efficiency in the county.

Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni called for stronger collaboration among the National Government, cooperative societies, farmers, and stakeholders to build a thriving agricultural sector that uplifts communities and strengthens the local economy.
Also present at the event were County Secretary Oscar Juma, County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), Chief Officers, and other county officials.
