Coffee market fetch Ksh20.9 billion from the NCE auction

The coffee market has made Ksh 20.9 billion after the sale of 348,506 bags of quality coffee in the last five months, auctioned through the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE).

The premier grades of  AA, AB,  and C through the auction conducted between October 1, last year and March 6, attracted the major markets.

In the duration, the market earned the farmers a total of Ksh 23.9 billion after the auction of 408,609 bags of coffee from all the grades, including mbuni, in the first 20 auctions.

In the analysis, the report explained that the farmers affiliated to the estates and cooperative societies offered 180,248 bags of grade AB that accounted for 44.33 percent, and 120,675 bags of AA (32.33 percent).

In a report, both AA and AB represented 76.7 percent of all coffee traded between October and March.

A coffee value chain expert, Henry Kinyua, says between November 2025 and February 2026, Britain bought  294, 507 Kilograms, Switzerland 153,443 Kilogramss, USA 10,200 Kilograms, Spain 7,317Kilograms and Russia 370 Kilograms.

In quality coffee, grade AA and AB accounted for 76 percent, reflecting Kenya’s production remaining heavily concentrated in the high-quality segment of the global Arabica market.

The report indicated that the coffee brokers who offered the highest volumes of quality coffee that attracted the buyers are Alliance Berries Limited, Kirinyaga Slopes, New KPCU, CEBBA, among others.

In the market, the farmers presented 47,583 bags of grade C that accounted for C grade, which accounted for 10.78 percent of the offers at the auction.

“Other grades appearing in the catalogue include UG1 (1.88 percent), TT (1.63 percent) and T (1.39 percent)
