The Kenya Sugar Board has opened a fresh application window for growers seeking to vie as representatives to the Board, with a Ksh 10,000 non-refundable fee required alongside a set of mandatory documents.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development issued an Extension of Election Notice under the Grower Representative Elections Procedure 2025. Applications had earlier been announced to close by August 13, 2026, with the election itself set for September 5, 2026.
According to the notice, any candidate who had not previously submitted an application, but is interested in vying for the position of grower representative to the Kenya Sugar Board (KSB), has been encouraged to apply. However, candidates who had already applied under the earlier notice will not need to reapply.
New candidates must submit an application using Form KSB/ELEC/25/03. The form should be placed in a sealed and clearly marked envelope addressed to the Chairperson of the Elections Committee. It must be signed by the applicant and accompanied by the non-refundable fee of Ksh 10,000, payable to the Kenya Sugar Board account, for which a receipt will be issued.

Documents required
Each candidate must also submit the following alongside their application:
- A National Identification Card or passport.
- The grower’s payment statement for the 24 months preceding the elections.
- A valid Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Certificate.
- A valid police clearance certificate.
- A duly filled and stamped Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) self-declaration form.
- A Credit Reference Bureau certificate.
Completed applications should be deposited in the receiving box located at the Kenya Sugar Board headquarters or its regional offices, not later than August 13, 2026, at 5.00pm.
Other conditions
The notice states that candidacy shall be for one electoral area only. Candidates must also meet the criteria set out in the Grower Representative to the Kenya Sugar Board Elections Manual and must be registered growers from their respective electoral area.
Once the applications are settled, the publication of voter and shortlisted candidates’ registers is scheduled for August 14, 2026, followed by a campaign period running until September 4, 2026, at 5.00pm. Voting will then take place on election day, September 5, 2026, between 7.00am and 5.00pm.
The names of successful candidates will be posted at sugar factories within the respective Sugar Catchment Areas, at County Ward offices, on the KSB website, and at regional offices before the election date.
