Univision DT Sacco Society has in the recent past witnessed a surge in membership even as it plans to celebrate 50 years anniversary of offering outstanding services to its members and celebrating its achievement since inception in 1976.
From a humble beginning of just 11 members to a current membership of over 60,000; the Sacco has grown into one of the most vibrant and trusted Savings and Credit Co-operative (Sacco) in the Lower Eastern and beyond.
“Our success has been anchored on three enduring pillars-disciplined savings, prudent borrowing and unwavering member loyalty. As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead with bold ambition. Our Ksh20 billion vision by 2028 will only be realized through a Sacco that is digitally enabled, governed transparently and supported by an informed and engaged membership,” said the Sacco Chairman, Rev. Augustus Munuve.

Rev. Munuve who was speaking during the Sacco’s member education day and training at Kauwi Primary School on May 16, 2026 under the theme Aligning Membership Needs with the Sacco Strategy stated that the Society continues to enhance its product portfolio to deliver great value, convenience and a good choice to members.
He added that all the services of the Sacco have been digitize and are now paperless, a move that has made it to be more efficient in terms of service provision to members, stating that the Society has introduced a dedicated collection account in order to improve the efficiency and convenience of receiving payments, especially for non-Sacco-based receipts.

“The members and their networks may now use this account to receive and channel a wide range of payments,” said Rev. Munuve. On dividend and interest capitalization policy, he stated that members holding a capital loan or a premier loan product will benefit from an automatic interest distribution structure.
The Sacco transitioned fully from Annual General Meeting (AGM) to Annual Delegates Meeting (ADM) on August 23, 2025 following a directive from the Commissioner of Cooperatives Development requiring all the cooperatives in Kenya with more than 5,000 members to adopt a delegate system of representation.
Munuve also stated that the Sacco is planning to support bright and needy students, assisting special schools and participating in the community outreach programmes through its proposed Univision Sacco Foundation.

In Makueni, the event was held at Unoa comprehensive school led by Sacco CEO Cyrus Mutinda where members Unoa declaration became: Changing pay points to Sacco, in order to enable it make more money which in turn will still go back to the members as dividends.
“Unoa declaration is to channel all the pays to the Sacco. Again I remind you to refer new members to join and save more. Get the right information from the right people bearing in mind in this AI era, anything can be said by our competitors,” said Mutinda.
He encouraged members to open and continue saving in Jubilee savings account.
Makueni county ECM devolution Nicholus Nzioka who is also a member and delegate applauded Sacco leadership for always acting swiftly when need be. On member welfare, he encouraged them to keep on updating their documents especially on next of kin.

The treasurer Simon Muema Munyoki revealed that the Sacco is doing well in its CSR activities which he added that will be managed well through its proposed Univision Sacco Foundation.

With its headquarters in Kitui town in Kitui County, Univision DT Sacco, formerly Kitui Teachers Sacco, the Society has a total of nine branches which are Kitui, Mutito, Mwingi, Mutomo, Kyuso, Makindu, Wote, Machakos and Matuu branches, and six marketing offices of Tseikuru, Kabati, Mutha, Masii, Kikima and Kambu. The Sacco currently boosts of a Ksh13.6 billion assest base which grows yearly.
