  • Kathonzweni Dairy receives new cooling equipment to help curb milk losses.
  • The machine is expected to improve milk quality and farmers’ access to better markets.
  • Farmers are set to benefit from reduced post production losses and better returns.

In order to save farmers from incurring losses in milk production, Chairman of Special Economic Zones Fred Muteti and his team delivered a milk cooling machine to Kathonzweni Dairy.

The machine was delivered through the Ministry of State Department for Livestock Development in Kathonzweni sub-county, Makueni County, to ensure that no drop of milk goes to waste.

“Every drop of milk counts, and this is why we saw it fit to bring one milk cooling machine to Kathonzweni Dairy, to even help revive it. Farmers have been counting losses, considering that milk is a perishable good. This will be a thing of the past now,” said Muteti.

He added that the equipment will help dairy farmers preserve their milk, reduce post-production losses, improve milk quality, and strengthen their access to better markets.

Speaking during a women’s economic empowerment meeting, Muteti noted that farmers deserve better returns for their hard work, and the right tools to grow their enterprises.
