Protecting Kenya from illegal pest control products remains a key focus of the Pest Control Products Board (PCPB).
Through enhanced compliance and enforcement operations across the country, coupled with strengthened border surveillance, the Board continues to ensure that only pest control products meeting regulatory requirements are allowed into the country.
On Thursday, PCPB Compliance and Enforcement officers stationed at Suam One Stop Border Post (OSBP), working in coordination with officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), intercepted and seized a consignment of illegal Duduacelamectin being smuggled into the country on a motorbike.

Notably, Duduacelamectin is not registered for use in Kenya. Its entry and intended distribution in the country contravenes provisions of the Pest Control Products Act, Cap. 346, which requires all pest control products to meet prescribed regulatory requirements and be registered by PCPB before they can be traded or used in the country.
The seizure forms part of PCPB’s broader enforcement operations aimed at curbing the entry of unregistered and potentially harmful pest control products into the country, particularly through border points that are vulnerable to smuggling.
By maintaining a strong presence at border posts such as Suam, the Board says it continues working to safeguard farmers, consumers and the environment from the risks posed by unregulated pesticides.
