Kenya has unveiled a new platform aimed at strengthening the contribution of citizens living abroad to the country’s economic and social development. President William Ruto said the diaspora remains a key part of Kenya’s growth story, contributing through remittances, investment, expertise, innovation and global networks.
Ruto made the remarks during an engagement with Kenyans in New York, where he witnessed the signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent involving the Government of Kenya, the United Nations in Kenya and Equity Group Holdings.
The event also featured the presentation of the vision for the Kenya Diaspora Impact Platform, which is being developed to create links between Kenyans abroad and opportunities in the country.
According to the President, the platform will provide opportunities for diaspora participation in community impact projects while supporting catalytic financing for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

It will also promote enterprise creation and facilitate the transfer of skills and knowledge between Kenyans living abroad and those at home.
The initiative is expected to connect members of the diaspora to verifiable opportunities through which they can contribute to Kenya’s national transformation.
Ruto said the Government was working to build a stronger bridge between Kenyans abroad and opportunities at home, with the platform founded on trust, transparency and measurable results.
The initiative brings together government, the United Nations and private sector to strengthen diaspora participation in development.
The platform is intended to provide a structured avenue for Kenyans abroad to support enterprises, communities and development initiatives in the country.
