- Oparanya launches a nationwide drive to connect entrepreneurs with Government support services
- Uwezo Fund disburses Ksh4.55 million to 40 groups in Vihiga and Hamisi
- The initiative will expand access to financing, training and markets across counties
Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya on Friday, September 25, 2026, launched the MSMEs Countrywide Sensitisation Drive at Mbale Municipal Grounds in Vihiga County. The initiative targets improved access to Government services, financing, skills development and markets for entrepreneurs.
Oparanya presided over the official launch, bringing together entrepreneurs and Government agencies to strengthen coordination of MSME support programmes and address information gaps affecting business owners.
Designed to connect entrepreneurs with Government financing and business support programmes, the initiative also creates a platform where beneficiaries can directly give feedback on programme implementation.
During the launch, the Uwezo Fund issued Ksh4.55 million to 40 groups in Hamisi and Vihiga constituencies. The financing targets women, youth and persons with disabilities, providing them with access to financing and capacity-building opportunities to support their enterprises.

Oparanya urged beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly by investing in viable businesses and meeting their repayment obligations. He said responsible use and repayment of the revolving fund would enable more groups to access financial support, adding that the Fund continues to expand access to finance, entrepreneurship training and market linkages for women, youth and persons with disabilities.
Subsequently, the countrywide sensitisation drive will be rolled out across all other counties as the Government seeks to connect entrepreneurs with financing, business formalisation, training and market opportunities.
The programme will also link beneficiaries of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme to complementary Government initiatives, aiming to increase the impact of MSME interventions. The drive is expected to bring Government services closer to entrepreneurs while strengthening coordination among institutions implementing MSME programmes.
Additionally, the Government is seeking to create a supportive environment for enterprise growth, job creation and improved livelihoods by ensuring entrepreneurs have better access to information, financial resources, skills and markets.
