Boresha Sacco has launched a mentorship programme that seeks to empower the youth to be self-reliant and be job creators.

Through Boresha Community Foundation (BCF), the Sacco has kicked off ‘Boresha Vijana’ programme.

The programme aims at assisting the youth to create jobs and expand their income sources. It will also enable them participate in various youth empowerment projects in Mogotio and Eldama Ravine.

Moses Chebor, Boresha Sacco CEO, said the one-year program will be evaluated on a quarterly basis across all sub-counties in Baringo to ensure it has maximum impact and high return on investment.

“We at Boresha Sacco leave nothing to chance and committed where youth empowerment is concerned. We have designed affordable, tailored financial products and suitable programs for the youth,” said Chebor.

At the core of the programme is identification of diverse strengths, interests and resources that the youth possess and them provide incentives and build their individual capacities.

Through mentorship and exhibition activities, the youth will be able to showcase their business ideas, products and services as well as display their talents, gifts, innovations and skills.

Chebor said a consultant, mentors and facilitators attached to the youth programme will be scouting for the best innovations, business ideas, talents and participants and those selected will be rewarded by Boresha Sacco.

“Apart from promoting the Boresha Sacco brand, the ‘Boresha Vijana Programme’ will link the youth with our selected products and services and create a network between BCF, the foundation, the consultant and our teams,” he said.

BCF was founded in September 2012 as a corporate social responsibility arm of the Sacco.

Since inception, BCF has initiated several, programmes within its mandate and on the same initiatives invites partners from both private and Non-governmental (NGO) sector for co-funding opportunities on the social investment Programmes.

The foundation has provided a channel through which Boresha Sacco can reach out to the community surrounding its business in Baringo County and surrounding regions.
