There was celebrations at Lugala Secondary school after Hazina DT Sacco donated a total of 60 modern lockers and chairs to the Shinyalu based school in Kakamega County as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony, the Sacco CEO Dickson Okungu noted that they decided to support the school after carrying out a thorough analysis, highlighting the Sacco’s 53-year legacy and its commitment to serving its members across the country.
“Our partnership with you will continue as we witness discipline and good performance among students,” said Okungu.
Vivianne Nyarunda who represented the Sacco board during the event expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support the school, highlighting the clear needs observed during their visit.
“Our board had the honor of selecting this school for our CSR project, and I am thrilled to see how much we can contribute. You are the future leaders of this country,” she said.
Nyarunda passionately encouraged the youth to shift their mindset from seeking traditional employment to aspiring to become entrepreneurs, calling on the students to take their education more seriously.
“Job availability may be limited, but with hard work and discipline, you can create opportunities for yourselves and others. Success may not always mean finding a job but it can also mean being the one who creates jobs,” she added.
Founded in 1971, Hazina Sacco has grown to encompass approximately 32,000 members, with total assets amounting to Ksh15.1 billion and total deposits of Ksh11.1 billion.
