Chuna Sacco announces job vacancy for Chief Executive Officer

Chuna Sacco Society Limited, a tier-3 deposit-taking Sacco regulated by the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) and located in Nairobi, is looking to hire a qualified and professional Chief Executive Officer who can effectively align with the Sacco’s goals and objectives.

The role involves providing daily leadership, management, and vision to ensure the efficient and effective execution of the Sacco’s strategic plan. The individual will advise the Board of Directors on policy issues and manage the staff competently and professionally to achieve the Sacco’s goals.

The chosen candidate will be tasked with implementing the Sacco’s strategic business plans, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and standards. They will manage investments to maintain a balanced portfolio, lead and develop a high-performance team through transformative leadership and training, and oversee financial and operational planning, forecasting, and budgeting while explaining any variances that occur.

The fortunate candidate will also manage costs to foster business expansion in alignment with the strategic plan; prepare comprehensive, timely, and compliant financial reports to support the Board; implement financial, operational, and accounting policies effectively; generate regular performance reports for the Board, and ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory obligations.

Qualifications and experiences required include a Bachelor’s degree in Business Development or equivalent, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree and CPAK/ACCA certification.

Applicants should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a deposit-taking Sacco or financial institution, including at least 5 years in senior management roles. Proficiency in computer use is essential, and familiarity with Navision ERP is advantageous. Knowledge of Sacco business models and operations is also expected.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate robust analytical, communication, and writing skills, alongside exceptional organizational and interpersonal abilities. They should exhibit high integrity, strategic thinking, and a results-oriented approach, with proven expertise in management and development. Moreover, they should possess knowledge in financial accounting and reporting, as well as the ability to effectively network with stakeholders.

Like all Saccos in Kenya, it operates under the oversight of the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and protect the interests of its members.
