Kenyan coffee fetched Ksh 949 million at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) on August 18, 2026, as buyers traded 17,315 bags in a lively Sale 36 auction.
The bags, weighing a combined 1,067,915 kg, were valued at USD 7.33 million. At the prevailing exchange rate of Ksh 129.50 to the dollar, the day’s trading translated into strong earnings for growers across the country’s coffee growing regions.
Prices held firm throughout the session. The overall average came in at USD 343.17 per 50kg bag, while the highest individual price reached USD 433.00, underlining continued global appetite for premium Kenyan beans.
New KPCU tops the brokers’ table
New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union PLC (New KPCU) emerged as the leading marketing agent by volume, handling 4,949 bags, or 28.6% of all coffee traded on the day. Its portfolio totalled 305,083 kg, valued at USD 2.08 million, with an average price of USD 342.14 per 50kg bag.

Alliance Berries Limited followed with 3,470 bags, while Kirinyaga Slopes Coffee Brokerage Company Ltd rounded out the top three marketing agents with 2,947 bags.
Ibero leads on the buying side
Among buyers, Ibero Kenya Ltd made the largest purchases, taking 4,230 bags. Kenyacof Limited was next with 4,069 bags, followed by C. Dormans SEZ Ltd, which bought 3,451 bags.
AA grade commands the best prices
By volume, grade AB dominated the auction, accounting for 6,869 bags. However, grade AA proved the most valuable, recording the highest average price at USD 388.53 per 50kg bag. The session’s top individual price of USD 433.00 further reflects the premium that international buyers continue to place on high quality Kenyan coffee.
