Commissioner of Cooperatives, David Obonyo has called on cooperatives to continue to advocate for a green future by promoting the adoption of renewable energy and environmental conservation programs within sector fostering sustainability and reducing carbon footprints.
Obonyo who was speaking on Tuesday during the 2nd Cooperative movement stakeholders’ annual conference on the legal and regulatory environment in technology and carbon footprint, said the Cooperative movement is leading in championing the adoption of renewable energy solutions and promoting adherence to environmental conservation programs.
He further said innovative policies and capacity development will envision a future where cooperatives not only drive economic growth but also play a pivotal role in fostering a greener, more sustainable world for future generations.
The 2nd Cooperative Movement Stakeholder’s Annual Conference and the Platform Cooperativism Consortium Conference 2024 are organized by State Department of Cooperatives, Platform Cooperativism Consortium and The Co-operative University of Kenya and will run from 4-8 November 2024 in Mombasa.
