Makueni County Governor Mutula Kilonzo has urged the public to explore the county and learn farm practices.
He noted that farmers are now benefitting with regenerative agriculture and conservation based agricultural practices which are aimed at transforming livelihoods in the county courtesy of USAID.
The governor was speaking during the tour of water projects developed by USAID through STAWI in partnership with Makueni County Government in Wote-Nziu ward and along Kaiti River where farmers have benefitted with the water piping and solarization project.
The governor noted that the county is the only one that has banned illegal sand harvesting thus conserving sand and again inviting the rest of the counties to come and learn from the conservation of sand in Makueni County and its benefits.
The governor had accompanied USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator for Resilience, Environment and Food Security Mia Beers for a development tour of Makueni.

Speaking at the same time Ms. Beers noted that the projects are meant to increase access to clean portable water for Wote Town and water for climate smart farming to enhance food security.
The projects include among them Kaiti 2 water project and solarization of Mwaani borehole.
