Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has revealed that the government is targeting to support 70 Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs) in every Ward through the National Youth Opportunities towards Advancement (Nyota) Program.
Each business will get a capital injection of Sh50, 000 to boost operations in order to grow the economy Prof Kindiki said.
Speaking at Masii Stadium in Mwala on Friday during a Youth and Women Empowerment Program, the DP said the move will ensure growth and realization of the Bottom up Economic Transformation.
“We are targeting micro and small businesses like Kinyozi, salon, Mama mboga, hawker as long as it is registered. Each business will get Ksh50, 000,”said Kindiki. He said the program will be implemented across the country.

Prof Kindiki dismissed those arguing that Ksh50, 000 was little money saying the capital injection was sufficient to transform the economy if put into good use.
Prof Kindiki who was accompanied by several Members of Parliament and other elected and nominated leaders said the task at hand was to transform the economy as elections were still far.
He said the task of transforming the economy was not easy adding that the President and him were committed to walking the talk.
On the 2025/2026 Budget,the DP said it was tailored to curb corruption in the civil service and reduce tax evasion among the rich, adding that there was a deliberate plan to seal loopholes used by the rich to evade paying taxes.

The DP said the country was not meeting set revenue targets due to ‘shortcuts’ employed by some potential taxpayers.
“The budget will ensure that those evading paying taxes especially the rich will begin paying. The reason we do not have enough resources is because of tax evasion, “said Kindiki.
DP Kindiki declared war on public officers corruptly enriching themselves using taxpayer’s money and vowed to lead the fight against corruption himself.
“There are three planks in the budget; zero tolerance to corruption, sealing loopholes to ensure there’s no tax evasion and making sure that we don’t add any new taxes, “he said.
