Kakamega Governor Fernandez Barasa has announced that the Tumbeni Dairy Plant project in Malava Constituency is on track for completion by the end of this year. Speaking at the funeral of the late Mzee Jackson Mulunda Shamala in Ichina, East Kabras Ward, Barasa emphasized the project’s potential to revolutionize Malava’s economy and provide crucial support to dairy farmers throughout Kakamega County.
“Once operational, the Tumbeni Dairy Plant is expected to significantly boost milk processing capabilities, creating a sustainable market for local farmers and stimulating economic growth in the region,” he said.
Barasa also highlighted the recent elevation of Malava to municipality status, which he believes will pave the way for essential infrastructural developments, including improved banking services, enhanced water supply and sewerage systems, reliable electricity access, and the installation of streetlights.
