  • Kericho tea factories post varying bonus rates for farmers
  • Kapkatet and Tebesonik lead the county’s bonus payouts
  • Farmers compare factory performance as gaps emerge in declared rates

Tea factories in Kericho County have announced the bonus payments due to their farmers. The declarations come after a year of deliveries, and farmers are now studying how each factory has rated against the others.

Momul factory leads the Kericho tea bonus payouts at Ksh 34 per kilogramme of green leaf delivered, followed by Kapkatet and Tebesonik at Ksh 25 each. However, the payouts across the county vary widely, leaving many farmers comparing notes on how their factories performed.

Tirgaga follows closely with Ksh 22. Together, the three factories stand clear of the rest of the field.

Behind them, Motigo, Oleng and Chelal factories tied at Ksh 20. Consequently, farmers delivering to these three factories will take home the same rate. Tegat and Toror factories came next, each with Ksh 19.

Litein factory posted Ksh 18, while Kapkoros followed with Ksh 17. Meanwhile, Kapset, Rorok and Mogogo factories closed the list at Ksh 16 each.
