16 groups within Kisumu Central constituency have received Ksh2.3 million from Uwezo Fund to boost their activities.
Out of the group, 13 have been refinanced while 3 are new ones.
Credit and loans officer Laban Mwangi noted that most groups repay their loans on time and urged them to continue doing so to enable others to get the same.
His sentiments were echoed by Area assistant county commissioner Mose Langat.
Kisumu Central Uwezo Fund Chairperson Norah Otieno lauded the government for the initiative and called for an increase in the amount allocation so that more groups qualify.
Rose Odhiambo, a member of Lovely Women Group, said they have cleared the first tranche of Ksh400,000 and secured the same amount again.
