Over 60 Million Shillings meant for youth and women empowerment in Machakos County has been returned to Treasury due to the ongoing wrangles between the Speaker and Members of the County Assembly.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti said the funds have been returned to Treasury due to failure by MCAs to pass the requisite legislation as the Financial Year comes to an end.

Speaking after attending a church service at AIC Baraka in Kasinga, Mumbuni North Ward on Sunday, and Governor Ndeti blamed 20 MCAs allied to the Speaker whom she said had caused the stalemate.

The Assembly has been on recess for a prolonged period due to wrangles between two factions of MCAs with majority seeking to impeach the Speaker, which was thwarted the speaker suspended the Assembly indefinitely.

Last week,Speaker Anne Kiusya again adjourned sittings following chaos that rocked the Assembly on re-opening.

On Sunday, Governor Ndeti and Former Machakos Town MP Dr Victor Munyaka warned that they will lead the people to eject the Speaker and the MCAs from the Assembly.
