Magadi Road Zone Online Drivers Association chairperson Julius Nyambok has urged online drivers to join Saccos.

Nyambok said the drivers will expand their businesses if they work together and put their money in their Sacco.

“The Sacco will empower you to have your own taxi, for those who get hired, you will also be able to take loans to expand your businesses at cheap interest rates,” he said.

Investing in their Sacco will reduce cases of some drivers’ vehicles taken away by auctioneers due to nonpayment of a loans.

Saccos offer low interest rates loans which gives drivers time to service the loans. Members will also have an opportunity to benefit from simple loan terms and conditions.

The association is in a process of registering their Sacco, the chair said through Saccos the drivers will benefit from Hustlers Fund which the national government had indicated will be distributed through Saccos.

The drivers held a meeting in Ongata Rongai 4Tee’s hotel whereby they were taken through importance of working as a team and financial literacy.

They were challenged to take insurance cover which will also protect them and their passengers when involved in road accidents.

The drivers also called on the county government of Kajiado to involve them in issues that touch them and their businesses just like boda-boda operators.

Ongata Rongai Police Station OCS Matthews Masaga who attended the meeting urged the drivers to work with police to reduce cases of crime in the town.
