Twenty five women and youth groups in Mvita constituency have received loans from Uwezo Fund amounting to Sh36.6 million to boost their businesses.
Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir said they have been given the money as a revolving fund to enable them improve their small scale businesses and repay later.
He added that the government decided to give youth money through Uwezo Fund so that they can engage in income generating activities because they are the majority in the country.
The Legislator however lamented that idleness among the youth had contributed to an increase in drug abuse and excessive drinking of alcohol.
The MP asked groups that benefited to take their businesses seriously and use the money for the intended purposes.
“Use the money wisely and pay promptly so as to enable others to benefit from the same Fund”, he advised them.
He urged women and youth in the constituency who have not formed groups to do so and get money from Uwezo Fund for business.
