Ongata Rongai Muungano Women Groups Housing Cooperative Society has received a tent and 100 chairs courtesy of National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), Kajiado County.
The women group had been allocated funds by NGAAF which they used to acquire the equipment.
Speaking during equipment handover event, Kajiado County Women representative Leah Sankaire through her representative, Eunice Nkopio, said the group received the funds due to its strong record of empowering women in the county.
Sankaire said the women group has been empowering women at the grassroots level and deserved the support.
Nkopio, who is the Head of Programmes in the office of the Kajiado County Women Representative, said that NGAAF has empowered many women and youths in the county.
She added that the office also supports students through bursary allocations.

Muungano Group Chairperson and founder, Ruth Wakapa, commended Women Representative’s office for its continued support. She added that the equipment will help the group cut costs when hosting important events.
Wakapa noted that the women have benefited a lot through the group, enabling them acquire property and educate their children.
“We have members who are a hundred years-old, some attend our meetings while others stay at home due to old age. They have managed to educate their children and grandchildren through the group,” she said.
Founded in 1992 by 41 groups across Kajiado North, Muungano Women Group gave rise to the Ongata Rongai Muungano Women Groups Housing Cooperative Society.
