Sacco stakeholders plant trees to mark Ushirika Environment Day 2025

Sacco stakeholders on Saturday joined hands in a vibrant tree planting exercise at Jamhuri Show Grounds to celebrate Ushirika Environment Day 2025 under the theme “Co-operatives Build a Better World,”

The exercise was in preparation for the 103rd International Day of Cooperatives, which will be observed on July 5th (county ushirika day celebrations) and 12th (national celebrations) this year.

The tree planting event was attended by Director of Cooperatives Nairobi County, Delphine Aremo who urged the sector leaders to support environmental matters for a greener, cleaner, and better world.

The exercise showcased united commitment to a sustainable future for the entire cooperative movement in the country.

The event was organized by The Co-operative Alliance of Kenya (CAK) and was to plant trees, and raise awareness about sustainability.

The stakeholders were urged  to support  government initiative of tree planting, President William Ruto’s administration had initiated a national tree planting campaign with the ambitious goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032.

This initiative is a key component of Kenya’s strategy to combat climate change, reduce deforestation, and restore degraded landscapes in the country
