The Coffee Revival Movement has recently gained fresh momentum in Western Kenya after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula committed to supporting the KahawaNiDollar campaign.
Addressing residents in Bungoma County, Wetang’ula pledged to spearhead efforts to restore coffee farming as a central economic pillar, urging communities to re-embrace the crop and revive its former glory. He emphasized that coffee remains a vital source of income and must be repositioned to benefit farmers and the wider economy.
During the engagement, experts from New Kenya Planters Cooperative Union (New KPCU) conducted practical training sessions on coffee establishment. Farmers were equipped with skills on modern planting techniques, while the youth were encouraged to form organized groups and begin preparing planting holes ahead of the upcoming season.

The initiative underscored a collective commitment to empower farmers, involve young people, and strengthen the coffee value chain through sustainable practices. Organizers said the campaign aims not only to boost production but also to secure long-term growth for communities across the region.
The KahawaNiDollar campaign is spearheaded by the Ministry of Cooperatives and New KPCU. and is designed to revive coffee farming and reposition it as a key foreign exchange earner. The programme emphasizes coffee’s potential to generate dollar income for farmers and the country, while promoting modern agronomy practices, youth involvement, and access to financial support through the Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving Fund
