Tower Sacco members has elected Patrick Thogo as their new director in a competitive election which was held at Olkalou Primary School in Nyandarua County.
Thogo got 222 votes against his close competitor former director James Mwangi get 219 votes.
The new director promised to initiate a mass recruitment of new members to ensure the Sacco has more members who will increase the savings and boost the Sacco growth.
“I want to thank our former Director Mwangi for doing tremendous job to Tower Sacco, I promise to follow your foot and achieve more for the benefit of our Sacco”, said Thogo.
The former director conceded defeat and congratulated the new director. A move that was welcomed and praised by many Tower sacco officials who attended the events.
Mwangi who served in Tower Sacco for 26 years in various positions including Board of Director thanked Nyandarua County teachers for according him opportunity to serve them.
“I joined Tower Sacco when its capital base was Ksh.400 million, 26 years ago and currently the Saccos Asset base is Ksh.20 billion,” said Mwangi. He is one of the long serving director in the Tower Sacco ,
Thogo promised to rectify the rules governing elections to enable many members to participate in a democratic process in electing their director.
He said noted that the current election laws block many from voting thus denying them the rights to elect their director.
“I will rectify the laws of election to enable many members to freely and fairly elect their director because the saccos are owned by member”, said Thogo.
He also promised to assist many members to get loans from the Sacco to spearhead their personal developments which will enable them to save more in the Sacco.
On his part Nyandarua KNUT Branch Executive Secretary Johana Ndung’u congratulated new director and promise him him performing his duties to the benefit of Sacco members.
