UN Sacco was recently declared the first runners up in the annual Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards 2016. This was during an award ceremony and Gala Dinner held at the Windsor Golf and Country Club, Nairobi-the 15th edition of this event. The award ceremony was preceded by a conference at Safari Park Hotel whose theme was Governance for Excellence and Reliability in Financial Reporting in East Africa.
The FiRe Award is the most prestigious and coveted Award in East Africa for financial reporting. This award aims to promote financial reporting excellence, foster sound corporate governance practices and enhance corporate social investment and environmental reporting.
“Given that UN Sacco membership is global with a number of members in the diaspora, it builds their confidence to know that not only does their SACCO comply with the regulatory standards in Kenya but it also complies with the International Financial Reporting Standards,” said Evelyn Olunja-Head of Marketing, UN Sacco.
The Chief Guest at the FiRe Awards 2016 ceremony was Ms Olajobi Makinwa, UN Global Compact Head of Transparency and Anti-Corruption Initiatives
