President William Ruto has nominated Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya as the nominee for the position of the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Cooperatives and Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises.
The president announced his nomination during a media briefing at State House on Tuesday.
The 68 year old served as a governor for Kakamega County from 2013 to 2022.
He was elected in 2013 and became the first governor of Kakamega County after promulgation of the new Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
Oparanya also served as the Council of Governors of Kenya chairperson.
He was also a Minister of State for Planning, National Development and Vision 2030 in the government of the late President Mwai Kibaki.
