Co-operatives Development Senior Commissioner, Churchill Amatha has urged Coast Region Saccos stakeholders to register in numbers for the upcoming 24th Savings and Credit Cooperatives Associations (SACCA) Congress on October 6-12, 2024 in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
Speaking during Mombasa International Show, Amatha said the event aims to unite the sector to explore opportunities, address challenges, and showcase cooperatives’ role in sustainable development.
The event is Africa’s largest annual financial cooperative event organized by the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (KUSCCO), African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA), and Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs.
Under the theme “Cooperative model contributing towards UN Sustainable Development Goals,” he revealed that the 24th SACCA Congress continues our longstanding tradition of an annual gathering that brings together experts and industry leaders from around the world to share knowledge and experiences.

He asserted that the goal is to create a united front that taps into new opportunities and addresses emerging challenges within the sector saying that Kenya is excited to host the largest cooperative event and attract diverse and international contributors.
In his address Amatha also acknowledged SACCO’s strong presence and impressive visibility at the Show and commended the ASK for promoting co-operatives through events that the other ASK branches should emulate.
The 2024 Show theme is “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Economic Growth”.
The Movement was also informed that the United Nations (UN) had set aside 2025 as the year for Co-operatives.
