The German Kenyan Cooperative Development (GKCD) will collaborate and partner with the Kenyan government to advance the cooperative movement in the country.
Speaking after hosting GKCD CEO Madeleine Mueller in Nairobi, Patrick Kilemi, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Cooperatives, said extensive consultation, knowledge sharing, and experience on matters relating to governance in the cooperatives sector will be pivotal in driving the successful implementation of initiatives under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The PS said the government, through the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs, will continue to partner with cooperative movement stakeholders locally and internationally to share experiences and explore solutions that promote growth and sustainability within the sector.

He added that the government will continue to support cooperative societies in exploring how cooperatives can contribute to the national development BETA agenda. This will enable cooperatives to play a significant role in driving economic growth, social development, and sustainability in alignment with the government’s development priorities.
