The Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries in Narok County has hosted a delegation from the World Bank for a series of field visits to review the progress of the National Agriculture Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) across the county.

The World Bank mission, led by Ghada Elabed and James Musinga, was accompanied by officials from the National Project Coordinating Unit (NPCU) under the leadership of Dr. Samuel Guto. The team assessed ongoing project activities in key agricultural areas and met with farmers and cooperatives benefiting from the initiative.

In Narok County, NAVCDP is being implemented across five key value chains tomatoes, potatoes, dairy, poultry, and avocado aimed at improving productivity, market access, and income for smallholder farmers.

During the visit, the delegation toured several sites, including the Narok Tomato Cooperative Society in Naroosura Ward, Masaantare Watershed in Ololulunga Ward, and Mara Ewangan SACCO in Mara Ward. The team also evaluated the progress of the Farmer-Led Irrigation Development (FLID) program, which has seen farmers construct more than 126 farm ponds with the support of the county government through the provision of excavation equipment.
