The government has officially kicked off the nationwide rollout of the second phase of classroom business skills training under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, marking a major step in its effort to empower youth entrepreneurs across the country.
The training, which began on April 20, Monday morning, is being conducted simultaneously in 454 mapped centres spread across all 290 constituencies.
More than 6,000 trainers have been deployed to support beneficiaries as they advance their entrepreneurial journeys.
According to MSMEs Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni, the initiative builds on the success of the project’s initial mentorship programme, which recorded impressive participation and outcomes among young entrepreneurs.

She noted that 97 percent of beneficiaries who received the first tranche of start-up capital actively took part in mentorship sessions, while 99 percent of those engaged had already established their businesses.
Mang’eni explained that the second classroom training is designed to address key business skills gaps identified during the mentorship phase. The sessions aim to strengthen the capacity of beneficiaries to sustainably grow and scale their enterprises.
Beneficiaries who successfully completed the mentorship programme have been invited to attend the training, which is a mandatory requirement for progression within the NYOTA Project. Completion of the sessions will determine eligibility for the second tranche of start-up capital as well as participation in the next phase of mentorship.
The government has emphasized that full attendance is required for all participants, underscoring the structured and performance-based approach of the programme as it seeks to nurture a new generation of resilient and skilled entrepreneurs nationwide
