On April 12, 2026, The Sacco Review online paper (www.saccoreview.co.ke) published a story about Shirika Housing Cooperative Ltd titled ‘Crisis at Shirika: Members plot uprising as troubled cooperative heads for explosive AGM’
While the article was exclusively about Shirika Housing cooperative, we erroneously used the photograph and logo of Shirika DT Sacco Ltd which is a totally distinct entity from the housing cooperative. The use of the word ‘Shirika’ in the title without a clear demarcation of the two institutions together with the image of Shirika DT Sacco published with the story gave the impression that Shirika DT Sacco was in a crisis.
This was obviously a mistake on our part and we take this early opportunity to apologize to the members, board of director and management of Shirika DT Sacco Ltd for the misrepresentation and clarify that this was an oversight and we had no intention whatsoever to disparage, malign or defame the esteemed organization which is a vibrant brand in the co-operative movement.
We duly regret having published the mentioned article.
