As early as 7:00 a.m. the road leading to the famous West Pokot County Showground in Kapenguria was busy as youth streamed to the venue of the NYOTA Fund Disbursement.
By 11:00 a.m. the showground was full to capacity as Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development Wycliffe Oparanya gave his speech on the importance of youth entrepreneurship.
Oparanya outlined the importance of the NYOTA fund to the youth, saying many of them have improved their lives through businesses such as mitumba selling, poultry and animal keeping.
He also praised President William Ruto for initiating the NYOTA fund for the youth, which he said has greatly improved their lives.

The CS implored youth from pastoral communities to take advantage of the NYOTA fund through livestock keeping business.
During the occasion, West Pokot County Governor Simon Kachapin asked the youth to spend the NYOTA fund they received wisely.
Samuel Moroto, the Kapenguria Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), said the economy of West Pokot County will grow through youth empowerment provided by the NYOTA fund.

Cabinet Secretary for East African Community (EAC), Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) and Regional Development Beatrice Askul Moe said the NYOTA Fund presents a timely opportunity to spur growth in ASAL regions by empowering young people with the resources needed to drive economic development.
Public Works Principal Secretary (PS) Joel Arumonyang also advised the youth to engage in entrepreneurship training to further their business skills.
Several other leaders, including West Pokot County Woman Representative Rael Aleutum, were in attendance.
The youth and prominent leaders were drawn from Trans Nzoia, Turkana and host county West Pokot.
It was also the right moment for residents of West Pokot County, who attended in large numbers, to catch up with technical advice on business entrepreneurship skills from CS Oparanya.
