  • KUSCCO and KRA will hold the second National Taxation Dialogue for Saccos on 30 and 31 July in Nairobi.
  • The forum will address Sacco taxation, compliance and policy reforms.
  • The dialogue aims to promote a fairer and more predictable tax framework for Saccos.

The Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives Ltd (KUSCCO) will convene the second National Taxation Dialogue for Savings and Credit Co-operative Organisations (Saccos) at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Upperhill, Nairobi, on 30 and 31 July 2026.

The two-day event, running from 8am to 4pm, brings together Sacco chief executives, board members, senior managers and finance and audit teams with experts from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) for direct engagement on taxation matters affecting the sector.

Organisers say the dialogue follows a successful first edition held last year, which they describe as a historic engagement between the co-operative movement and the tax authority. This year’s meeting is intended to build on those discussions and push towards a more predictable and fair taxation environment for Saccos.

Participation costs Ksh 40,000 per person, inclusive of VAT. The target audience includes chief executive officers, finance managers and internal auditors, though board members and senior managers are also invited to attend.

Govt to turn KUSCCO into federation under sweeping Sacco reforms

According to KUSCCO, the dialogue is aimed at giving Sacco leaders clarity on key taxation issues affecting the sector, a chance to engage directly with KRA officials, and an opportunity to help shape the sector’s collective position on tax policy. The event will also cover practical approaches to compliance that organisers say are designed not to stifle growth within the movement.

The two-day programme will focus on four main areas. These are the taxation of Sacco products, multiple taxation and policy advocacy, tax compliance and dispute resolution, and corporate taxation for member based institutions.

The dialogue comes at a time when Saccos across Kenya continue to raise concerns over multiple layers of taxation and the compliance burden facing member-based financial institutions. By bringing regulators and industry leaders into the same room, KUSCCO says it hopes the forum will translate into practical policy outcomes rather than one off discussions.
