Boresha Sacco funds electric motorbikes for Sabatia milk riders

Boresha DT Sacco Society Ltd has financed electric motorbikes for milk delivery riders at Sabatia Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS), boosting green transport in the dairy value chain.

The financing allows riders to swap fuel powered motorbikes for electric ones, cutting emissions while speeding up milk collection from farms to collection centres. The move aligns with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and supports climate smart transport solutions across the region’s dairy sector.

By easing transport bottlenecks, the Sacco expects faster, more reliable milk deliveries, which should reduce spoilage and improve returns for dairy farmers linked to Sabatia FCS.

The initiative forms part of Boresha Sacco’s 50th anniversary programme, a series of projects marking five decades of service to members. Through the milestone, the Sacco has renewed its focus on member empowerment and rural economic development, particularly within agriculture based livelihoods.

Dairy farming remains a key income source for many households in the Sacco’s operating areas, and value chain financing of this kind is aimed at strengthening production and market access. Boresha Sacco says it will continue exploring green financing options that support sustainable agriculture while cutting operating costs for riders and farmers within its membership base.
