The coffee market netted Ksh 896,557,424.23 after the sale of 15,906 bags at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE), up from Ksh 839 million the previous week.
Farmers offered 1,208 bags of Grade AA, 6,298 bags of Grade AB and 4,534 bags of Grade C during the auction.
According to the NCE report, Gakuyu factory in Kirinyaga achieved the highest price, at Ksh 59,676.45 per bag of Grade AA, followed by Karani factory of Kabare FCS at Ksh 57,734.70 for Grade AA, and Gititu factory in Kiambu at Ksh 55,792.95.
In coffee brokers’ performance, New KPCU led in volume offered, with 272,653 kg accounting for 28 percent of the total and netting Ksh 256.1 million. Alliance Berries Limited followed with 241,063 kg, or 24 percent, earning Ksh 227.2 million.

In the dealers’ category, six buyers purchased 90 percent of the offer. Ibero Kenya bought 3,669 bags, Kenyacof 3,508 bags, C. Dormans 3,493 bags, Taylor Winch 1,933 bags, Global Mark Foods 1,065 bags, and Louis Dreyfus 727 bags.
NCE CEO Lisper Ndung’u said buyers have shown strong interest in Kenyan coffee, creating a need for farmers across the counties to increase production. She noted that 15 dealers participated in the weekly market, with hopes that more will join in future.
“There is a general demand for Kenya’s coffee in the international market. We call upon the farmers to double their production to help meet the growth among the buyers,” said Ndung’u.
