President William Ruto has commissioned new market projects worth Ksh280 million in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado North, as part of a wider tour of infrastructure works across the county.
The President concluded his three-day tour of Kajiado County on Monday, September 7, 2026, with a series of launches in the fast-growing Kajiado North Constituency. In Ongata Rongai, he laid the foundation stone for a new modern market worth Ksh210 million, designed to accommodate more than 1,000 traders once complete.

Alongside the groundbreaking, Ruto commissioned a completed Ksh70 million facility, the Ongata Rongai ESP market, which already serves 200 traders. Together, the two projects bring the President’s total market investment in the area to Ksh280 million.
The markets form part of a broader effort to formalise trading spaces in the peri-urban constituency, which has seen rapid population growth in recent years. For traders who have long operated from informal stalls, the new facilities promise better sanitation, security and space to grow their businesses.
